The Golden State Warriors missed a huge opportunity in the Western Conference standings on Thursday night, dropping a crucial home game to the Minnesota Timberwolves — a team that didn’t even have Anthony Edwards on the floor.

Steph Curry came back in explosive fashion, dropping 39 points and keeping the Warriors alive until the final stretch. But even his elite performance wasn’t enough as Golden State’s defense collapsed again, giving up 127 points to a short-handed Minnesota squad.

This loss hurts the Warriors in the playoff race.
Had they won, Golden State would’ve moved to just 1.5 games behind Minnesota for the No. 6 seed.
Instead, they fall to 3.5 games back, losing important ground in a tightly packed Western Conference.

For the Timberwolves, the victory showed their impressive depth and defensive resilience.
For the Warriors, it’s another frustrating night — a reminder that even with Curry playing like an MVP, they won’t go far if the defense continues to fall apart.
