Russell Simmons has responded after his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons claimed she does not “have a relationship really” with the fathers of her children.
In a recent interview, Kimora shared that she has raised her kids primarily on her own, relying on her “village” of trusted friends and family.
Simmons, 68, reacted on Threads on Dec. 14, saying he has been “fighting” for his relationship with their daughters, Ming Lee, 25, and Aoki Lee, 23.
“There are two sides to every story,” he wrote. “I gave you $50,000 a month for 20 years. I was your best and only friend. I’m the godfather to your other three kids until one day you stole my stock.”
Simmons added that he has “been fighting for my kids’ love and my bread ever since,” claiming Kimora warned him that if he pursued legal action, he would “never speak” to his daughters again.
Kimora has not yet publicly responded to his comments.
The Baby Phat founder also shares two sons — Kenzo Lee, 16, with actor Djimon Hounsou, and Wolfe Lee, 10, with former investment banker Tim Leissner, who received a prison sentence earlier this year in a bribery and money-laundering case.
Speaking about co-parenting, Kimora said she is effectively the primary parent. “Usually I would say I co-parent okay, but the kids are with me full-time,” she shared.
She added that Ming and Aoki may be older, but still rely heavily on her for guidance and stability.
Kimora emphasized that her life “never revolves around a man” and credited her independence and resilience for keeping her family grounded.
The former couple previously made headlines in 2023 when Kimora supported Aoki’s allegations that Simmons had become “abusive” and “threatening.”
The situation between the two continues to draw public attention as both sides share conflicting narratives about their past and present relationships with their children.
