HOOVER, Ala. — Former WBRC sports reporter Christina Chambers was among two people found dead inside a Hoover home Tuesday morning in what police are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide, WBRC confirmed.
Hoover Police said officers were called to the residence around 9 a.m. after a family member discovered Christina and her husband unresponsive inside the home. Authorities confirmed that both adults were found with gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
A 3-year-old child was also inside the home at the time but was not injured, police said.
Christina Chambers joined WBRC 6 News in 2015, where she quickly became a familiar and respected face in sports coverage. She regularly appeared on Sideline every Friday night and frequently assisted with coverage of major events, including the Mercedes Marathon, even participating as a runner herself.
Although Christina stepped away from her full-time role in July 2021, she continued to contribute as a freelancer and returned to work with WBRC’s Sideline during the 2025 football season.
Before her time at WBRC, Christina built a strong broadcast career across the Southeast. She worked as a sports reporter and anchor at WAKA in Montgomery, began her career at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, and later joined Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) in Atlanta, where she covered Auburn University athletics and Friday night high school football.
In addition to her broadcasting work, Christina shared her love for sports and journalism as an educator at Thompson High School, inspiring students through both teaching and mentorship.
Colleagues and community members described Christina as a beloved coworker, remembered for her warmth, quick wit, bright smile, and deep passion for high school sports and the UAB Blazers. She was also a devoted mother who cherished her young son.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not released additional details at this time.
